After living on an island our whole lives, we’ve fielded countless questions about why we stay — and why people should visit Friday Harbor.
Come to The Web Suites for the views…
Despite what some people think, water surrounds the entirety of San Juan Island – it IS an island after all. From our Crow’s Nest rooftop deck, visitors can take in a 360-degree view of Friday Harbor and the harbor itself. Our guests appreciate watching the sunset from the Crow’s Nest and staying to sip wine under the stars.
…But not the tour of the bridge
Unlike some islands, you access Friday Harbor (San Juan Island) and the rest of San Juan Islands by ferry or plane. Catch the ferry in Anacortes and enjoy the 75-minute ride to Friday Harbor. You can drive directly onto the ferry (don’t forget to make a reservation), bring your bicycle, or simply walk on with your own feet. The Web Suites offers free private and street parking for all our guests and if you do choose to walk on, we are a quick walk up the hill from the ferry landing.
Come for the climate…
All Washington residents know what people say — it rains here. However, we also experience about 300 days of sunshine each year – some days it might just be for a moment, but it’s there. Hiking, stand up paddleboarding, and kayaking remain popular outdoor activities for our guests. Check out the weather.
When rain happens, we can help you find indoor fun, too. Both of us have families that have lived on the island for generations. We love sharing what we know about local gems, from art galleries to the Whale Museum.
…But not the tropical climate
Don’t book with us if you’re interested in exploring San Juan, Puerto Rico! Our island might sound like you’re visiting the Caribbean Sea, but we like it right where it is — in the Salish Sea, north of Seattle, Washington.
Come for the food…
With plenty of fresh ingredients available, Friday Harbor boasts some true culinary gems, like Duck Soup Inn or Mike’s Cafe & Wine Bar. When you visit The Web Suites, we will happily point you to tasting rooms for whatever you’re craving, from wine to gourmet chocolates.
…But not the chain restaurants
If Friday Harbor has a small town feel, that’s because it is small. San Juan Island, as a whole, encompasses about 55 square miles. At its widest, the island measures six miles from shore to shore and is about fourteen miles long. With a limited amount of real estate, local establishments beat out chain restaurants, coffee shops, and big box stores every time.
Come to The Web Suites to feel at home — only a little better
Our three suites offer visitors the comforts of home, including kitchen amenities, 2 Smart TVs, WiFi, and cozy fireplaces. Unlike at home, you won’t worry about busy traffic or following a schedule. Contrary to popular belief, even the orcas don’t stick to a schedule around here. We’re happy to point you to the best whale watching tours and keep our fingers crossed they’re in the mood to breach and say hello.
